Course Summary

Housekeepers are staff members who perform cleaning duties in hotels, motels and resorts. Responsible for ensuring rooms and other areas of a hotel are kept clean on a daily basis, a hotel housekeeping job usually entails:   
- Making beds
- Replacing used towels with new ones
- Vacuuming, dusting and mopping
- Cleaning and disinfecting bathrooms   
- Ensuring new toiletries provided by the hotel are placed at appropriate places.

The role also entails observing the condition of each guest room to be sure everything is in working order, including the light bulbs and appliances. Aside from cleaning guest rooms, hotel housekeeping may also entail making the general hotel environment appealing and comfortable to guests therefore their work may involve cleaning in conference rooms, the lobby and hallways.

What Are the Main Responsibilities of Hotel Housekeepers?

Hotel housekeepers perform various functions to keep hotel rooms clean, attractive and comfortable.

The main duties and Responsibilities include:
- Answering immediately to guest requests, as well as requests from other departments
- Loading carts with supplies and moving them to the required area
- Entering guest rooms, ensuring they are vacant
- Replacing used toiletries and amenities
- Providing clean linens and towels
- Folding towels, making beds, and cleaning bathrooms
- Removal of room service items, dirty linens and rubbish
